Throughout the pandemic, Church Council has emphasized care of community and one another through a slow and cautious approach to resuming in-person activities, and changes to public health protocol. Our commitment to these principals continues even as our provincial government has removed most public health orders.
At the March 15 meeting, council decided the following public health measures for worship and all facility use at Messiah Lutheran Church:
Continued use of masks while indoors, with the exception that worship leaders may remove masks while leading speaking parts of the service (presider, preacher, assisting minister, lector)
Requiring proof of vaccination for those 12 and over
Celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion to resume on Sunday April 3
Encourages people to maintain distancing from those outside of your household, but have removed enforcing distancing and capacity limits throughout the building (meeting spaces, shared washrooms, etc.)
Church Council is reviewing volunteer capacities before making changes to gathering for coffee fellowship or funeral receptions.
Church Council will re-evaluate these measures on a month-by-month basis making changes and communicating them to our membership and wider community as they are made.
